Lenore Barnett’s extensive national and international travel has afforded her the opportunity to paint color, light, and the exquisite contrasts in man-made elements and nature’s landscapes, which she has experienced first hand.

Originally from New York, after living twenty years in Seattle, Wa, she relocated to Hendersonville. She was strongly influenced by her gifted husband, a well-known Southwest artist. Her work evokes serenity in the viewer since she chooses recognizable subjects that touch an emotional chord. Despite favoring oils, she uses a variety of media including acrylics, watercolor, colored pencil, graphite and ink. She enjoys working in her studio, but whenever the weather allows can be found painting en plein air.

Lenore’s paintings describe her joyful view that is new, fresh . . . artistic poetry each time she draws or applies a brush stroke. Sometimes she will paint en plein air, and other times she will derive inspiration from photographs that she has taken as a result of her life experiences.

Since 1994, Lenore has consistently been juried into shows and invitational group shows nationwide. She won recognition with the Artist’s Magazine Award and twice earned awards from the historic Salmagundi Club in New York. Lenore is also a signature member of the Colored Pencil Society of America, and a member of the Board of Governors of the National Oil and Acrylic Painters Society.
